Closed Rhinoplasty Overview

Nose surgery is currently performed using two main techniques. The most preferred method among plastic surgeons is the closed technique. Although open technique procedures have gained popularity recently, the closed technique remains widely used. Contrary to what some patients are told, there is no "old vs new" distinction between these techniques — the closed technique is a method preferred mostly by experienced surgeons and can be applied to all patients without exception.

Advantages of the closed technique:
1. Tip swelling resolves much faster than with the open technique, so final shape settles quickly.
2. No visible external scarring.
3. Since shaping is performed while the skin is attached to the nasal bones, easier sculpting and faster healing.
4. Surgery time is approximately half that of the open technique.
